<<f you don't believe homosexuality is damaging, I suggest you speak with doctors
(particularly proctologists) who serve the male gay community--it is a behavior
which is fraught with medical risks and problems.

Alcoholism and drug addiction, unlike homosexuality, are treatable illnesses.

Again, you need to do some research, recitivism among addicts is terribly high no
matter the treatment. I'd venture a guess that less than 20% of all addicts actually
experience a life long cure from their drug of choice, be it cigarettes, alcohol,
cocaine . . .>>

You're not making much sense here, Karma. Do you realize how many women die worldwide in childbirth every year, a clear result of heterosexual behavior? Or how many sexually transmitted diseases affect heterosexuals? Did you know that in global terms, most AIDS victims are heterosexual, for example?

I didn't say that everyone who has drinking or drug problems recovers. Certainly, most of the people I know who has had these problems recovered, but the quality of psychotherapy and other treatment programs in San Francisco is really cutting edge. The percentage of Americans who has quit smoking cigarettes and doing cocaine is certainly very high--almost everyone I know falls into these two categories.

Still, there is a huge difference between being homosexual and having an addiction problem. Only the far religious right has any illusion at all that homosexuality is treatable, and alcoholism and drug addiction certainly are.

Every sexual activity is fraught with medical risks if practiced unwisely. The various diseases are too legion to begin to enumerate. Not to mention the scope for causing pain. You also seem to overlook the fact that heterosexuals engage in the same practices, probably more frequently than you realize. Partners engaging in sex who are sensible and careful of hygiene tend not to have these problems.

Why do they have to be "cured"? Late 20th Century societal nonsense.

I'd venture a guess that less than 20% of all addicts actually experience a life long cure from their drug of choice, be it cigarettes, alcohol, cocaine . . .
