The confusion about 300/400 versus 600/800 is easy to clear up. There is no cause for alarm. They are actually exactly the same thing.

RDRAM on PCs was planned to run at 800 Megaherz data transfer rate, but this is achieved with a 400MHz clock, because 1 bit of data is transferred on each edge of the clock, i.e. 2 bits per clock cycle.

So when they talk about 300MHz, they mean clock rate, equivalent to 600 Megaherz data transfer rate.
