Re: "If Intel had production quality silicon at 550 MHz, it would be in production. At this point 550 MHz PIII is as much vaporware as is K7."

Nonsense. Intel is shipping production PIII's at 500Mhz as we type and that is the same product that will provide 550Mhz and perhaps higher product in the near future. Intel may very well be manufacturing 550Mhz PIIIs at this very moment. No K7s are shipping and as of today only 1 device has ever been seen in public. Vaporware doesn't ship in volume at a slower speed. Vaporware is vapor, like the K7.

Scumbria,

Re: "I don't talk much about process technology because I know little
about it."

Good decision, Scumbria ... Just wish that Ali, Maxwell and Kenith would
follow your "lead".

Re: "At this point 550 MHz PIII is as much vaporware as is K7."

I believe that Intel is just loading up the OEM "pipeline" ... This was
the reason used by AMDroids to explain lake of 450mhz K6-2's. <ggg>

Make It So,
