High-performance, cost-effective platform connects Santiago to other

KANATA, ONTARIO--Newbridge Networks (NYSE: NN - news; TSE: NNC - news) today
announced that Entel Chile (Entel), one of the largest service providers in South America,
has selected the Siemens / Newbridge multiservice, multi-access asynchronous transfer
mode (ATM) pla tform to build the continent's largest commercial multiservice network. The
contract was awarded to Newbridge through its local distributor and subsidiary, Coasin
Chile.

Entel is using the Siemens / Newbridge MainStreetXpress(tm) 36170 Multiservices Switch
to build a high-capacity, multiservice network connecting Santiago to other major Chilean
cities. The flexibility of the MainStreetXpress platform enables Entel to bui ld a single ATM
network that can provide a wide variety of services including advanced private line, LAN
internetworking, frame relay, native cell relay, business class Internet protocol (IP), virtual
private networks (VPNs), digital subscriber line (DSL ), broadband wireless access and
Internet backbone services for businesses and consumers.

The entire Entel ATM network is managed by the MainStreetXpress 46020 Network
Manager, a powerful network management system that manages thousands of nodes,
provides complete integration with other Newbridge networking products, enables
point-and-click c onfiguration, network and service partitioning and features an extensive
collection of billing information and other essential statistics.
