I know rather well what your husband went through. I was accelerated by two years in school, the system's vain attempt to catch up to my mother's tutorials, and was way smaller than anyone in my classes. I also had a bit of a mouth on me. I got slapped around a good deal, and was inevitably referred to as "faggot". Those being innocent days, I didn't even really know what a faggot was. I thought it meant a kid who talked too smart and wasn't good at football. I remember another kid who really was gay, and he had it a whole lot worse. I got messed with, he got beaten up. Regularly. He was really a very sweet, gentle, and innocuous soul, and I have a hard time imagining him harming anybody. I wonder how he turned out.
