Dell Looks at Selling Computers for Less Than $1,000, WSJ Says

Round Rock, Texas, Feb. 18 (Bloomberg) -- Dell Computer Corp. is considering offering computers priced at $1,000 or less, a strategy that some analysts say trades profits for sales, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing an unidentified spokesman. Dell said the company has been closing in on the market, whose share of all personal-computer sales reached 13.2 percent in the last quarter. Company Chief Executive Michael S. Dell said Dell has been ''increasingly participating'' in this segment of the market, the paper said.

Dell shares fell 7 3/16 to 81 9/16 on the third-highest volume for daily trading in the U.S., one day after the company said PC sales were slowing.

MB,

We were talking about DELL's ESP. Truth be told, I have absolutely no interest in your abilities. You may find this hard to believe. But it is true. I am only interested in your data and analyses wrt DELL and not how, IYO, you are smarter than Michael Dell, Warren Buffet, Fisher Black, Myron Scholes and Bill Sharpe combined. (Please feel free to include Markowitz, Miller and Mahatma Gandhi in the list, if you are so inclined.)

I apologize if I sound too harsh. But I am a little tired with the way you sidetrack issues and instead try to divert the focus on claims of unrelated perceived successes sometime back in your career.

The WSJ story is a simple rehash of the information that came out yesterday. My understanding is that DELL is going to elaborate on their sub1K plans in April and as I mentioned to you earlier, I am going to wait for that.

I will ignore your posts which present no new information about or analysis of DELL in future.
