BCST the next $100+ stock soon!(again) Broadcast.com Shares Rise After Alliance With Capitol Records Los Angeles, Feb. 18 (Bloomberg) -- Shares of Broadcast.com Inc., which transmits conference calls and other programs on the Internet, rose as much as 26 percent after the company said it started an Internet music channel with Capitol Records. Broadcast.com rose 9 5/16 to 67 1/2 in early trading, after rising as high as 73 1/2. American depositary receipts of EMI Group Plc, which owns Capital Records, rose 1/8 to 13 5/8. CapitolBroadcasts, a music channel that will have audio and video programming from Capitol Records and its family of labels, the companies said late yesterday. People can listen to and watch Capitol artists and compilations, or listen to live events via the Internet. The World Wide Web site ''gives music fans an arena to listen to their favorite songs, watch videos and discover new artists they might not be able to hear through traditional radio and video outlets,'' Julie Smith, vice president of music at broadcast.com, said in a statement. Broadcast.com shares have surged almost fourfold since going public in July 1998 at $18 per share on optimism that personal computers are becoming an alternative to television and radio. Dallas-based broadcast.com, which has a daily audience of more than 800,000 visitors, said anyone with a multimedia computer and an Internet connection can access CapitolBroadcasts using their choice of the Windows Media Player or the RealPlayer. Under the agreement, Capitol Records also will receive promotional tie-ins with broadcast.com's 385 radio and 40 television affiliates and numerous multicast Internet partners.
