Your guys' Intc/Amd analysis made me nervous. I sold 500 shares of Intc this morning to make room for the 5 Feb 130 puts.

The price war for the PC market will get bad. That isn't all that Intel has going for it. They are continuing to stretch into the higher end of the computer server and mainframe markets and will introduce the overdue Merced chips. I think many of the tech stocks remain over valued but think Intel will remain a strong, lower growth company over the short term and will resume normal growth rates next year. How well AMD does has a lot to do with how well they execute on their new PC segment uPs and how well they do in gaining sales of their new multi-processor uPs. Those will target, for the first time, Intels turf for servers & workstations. That is were Intel currently is getting the fattest margins - where they have the most to loose and AMND the most to gain. When Intel comes out with the Merced, the success of which will be highly dependent on MS coming out with NT 2000, they will not have AMD as competition for it's targeted markets. For the next year or two Intel will face an increasingly commodity market and price pressure.

Hmmm . . . But Intel's Pentium is said to be a more recognizable brand name around the world than Coke. Why can't they fend off pressure from AMD? Anyway, Amazongonenutty.com is different - they will build brand loyalty despite the increased competition that is sure to be attracted to the Internet. Yes, Amazon is something that is unique in the history of commerce and they will have fat profits selling commodity items through the universal access of the web. It's so stupid that anyone would think that buying the market now won't result in a defendable position latter - Amazon will never have to cut prices to razor thin levels in order to maintain market share - Intel is a dumb cluck company that doesn't know how to develop the right mantras to sway the public. Amazon has learned how to develop such solid brand names that they can walk on water. ; ^).

-----------

Amazon sent me $10 coupon which I used to buy a $30 tech book. So far I have only purchased from Amazon when I got a special discount. How can they make money by wrapping $10 around each purchase? maybe this new give away will help to pump up another few percent in sales this quarter - all that speculators seem to focus on.
