The HMO's etc, can try to attempt anything. That I have no doubt. Their ultimate success is the question.

Robert S, I work with the most disadvantaged patients in the USA, non legal immigrant indigent abandoned babies and the hospitals in the Bronx and Brooklyn are fully reimbursed for the most expensive drugs in biotech: epogen, growth hormone, pulmozyme, surfactants, and most recently synagis ($1000 a dose per month x 5 months, look at the MEDI recent super earnings). HMOs have no control over this costs and that is why most of then are not making money. Medicaid and Medicare, the States, charities, the muppets, and even Ronald McDonald helps with the payments. Either you had zero idea of how drugs are financed in the USA or you are out to just kid around. Bottom line is if Bpi works it will make tons of money for Xoma. And the HMOs will pay or fail (and the other lawyers will make tons of money, I mean the ones that do not own Hmos). Have you ever have a patient from a catholic church affiliate medicaid hmo in a poor neighborhood? They are going to take over all the patients, they do not care about making money (they have better seems to do trying to get a ticket to heaven). If the others Hmos can not, they will. Same with parochial schools, they make where everybody else fails. This is why the USA is the hot super creator of the most impressive, advance and productive biotech industry in the world. Forget your worries, just buy after the news you will still make good money.
