Mary, I wasn't talking about Intel's segmentation strategy. I was simply making a comment after reading your missive on 'purchasing decisions'! Besides, we all know that Intel has been 'sensitized' to the marketplace and now has the 'right' Celerons in place. On a more serious note, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't concerned about Celeron eating away at the higher end chips. From what I read, a 400mhz Celeron is pretty close to a 400mhz PII in performance. It is also enough power for most to do what they need. Maybe that changes when fat pipes are more widespread. That will still be awhile though. On a less serious note, is Mikey still your 'idol'??? <ggg>

Regards,
John

Mary,

For now, 2 or 3 sec differences are huge. later on .2 or .3 secs will seem just as huge.

Recently I have been finding the typical SI latency to be between 5 and 60 seconds. This is very irritating. Which CPU should I buy to speed this up?
