Thursday February 18 1:15 PM ET Sony Unveils Memory Stick Compatibles TOKYO (Reuters) - Sony Corp (NYSE:SNE - news) Thursday took the wraps off a new family of products compatible with its ultra-compact memory device, the ''Memory Stick.'' Sony said it would begin selling new VAIO series personal computers, photo printers and digital photo frames with Memory Stick slots later this month. The Memory Stick is about the size of a human thumb and can store hundreds of images. It was developed last year by six Japanese companies -- Sony, Olympus Optical Co, Casio Computer, Sharp Corp, Fujitsu Ltd. and Sanyo Electric Co. The device first went on sale last September, but until now has required a special adapter to display the information. Sony said its new digital photo printer will allow consumers to print photographs from a Memory Stick without using a computer. The liquid crystal display (LCD) digital photo frame will allow users to view images taken by Memory Stick-compatible digital cameras. Digital photo printers will have a price tag of 64,800 yen ($540) and initial monthly production of 4,000 units is planned. Digital photo frames will be priced at 99,800 yen and Sony plans to produce 500 units a month, Sony said. Sony said it planned to start selling a 64-megabyte Memory Stick in April that will be capable of recording up to 10 minutes of video or 260 photographs. Earlier this year it announced Memory Stick-compatible digital camcorders and digital still cameras would start selling in March and April. ($1-120 yen)

at last, i did it! i just bought a cflash equipped camera, the konica Q-M100 not state of the art, but OK. megapixel, cflash, flash, three modes (80kb jpg, 200kb and 400kb) etc. (no zoom ...) it comes with a konica branded 4MB sandisk cflash. I previosly bought two 16MB cflash (Peripheral Enhancement Corp. hope they pay royalties to Sndk..) i also bought (how much money...) a parallel Sndk Imagemate at Wolf Camera (didn't find the USB version) everything works fine. So, now i am a customer of the company i control.... ;-) B.
