Les--- Very interesting piece. I think that Gore is one of the most over- rated guys in Washington, and that he demonstrates the benefits of being born into the ruling class. He essentially grew up in the District, went to St. Alban's (which is pretty much IT socially among local prep schools), and went to Harvard. His father was a Senator, and he basically inherited his seat. I give him credit for serving during Vietnam, but he never did anything like George H.W. Bush, who dragged his wife to the wilds of Texas and made his own way in business. And he has had Marty Peretz and The New Republican boosting him for years (Peretz is a former teacher). Get him out to be truly scrutinized, instead of being an Establishment darling, and his numbers will soon look even worse.
