I think you hit on the thrust of my question when you mentioned the anode. I am not clear that a 60% gain in one aspect of the cell translates into a 60% gain for the cell as a whole, so I have refrained from imputing any gain beyond what the press release said. I can imagine anything from a 60% gain downward, depending on the other components. It would be interesting to hear from anyone really knowledgeable about the chemistry and construction of batteries.

The significance of the announcement remains for me the idea that Valence has gained an important beachhead on the enemy's home turf. The enemy, in my mind, is less other potential li-poly producers than the existing producers of liquid li-ion batteries. That's what li-poly has got to displace in its fight to gain market share. It would be quite nice if Valence could get a cut of what their li-ion competition sells. Reminds me of JD Rockefeller.
