So Driefontein takes over Gold Fields, then changes its name to Gold Fields, and frees itself from Anglo. Except for the nine month loan of R600m from AngloGold to enable this feat.

Anglo American and Amgold then own 53.7% of AngloGold. If I follow your logic, things are not what they seem. Is Anglo's strategy to roll up a nice, tidy package (new Gold Fields) for consumption?

Perhaps the best way to invest in the new Gold Fields is to buy AngloGold and wait nine months?

Barrick has now followed Placer Dome into Africa. It just bought into Tanzania through its purchase of Sutton Resources Ltd of Vancouver
