YHOO post on 2/4/99: I e-mailed APLX the articles about applications going portal.
He was very nice and took time to answer my questions. Jit is very keen on hooking up Applix office with a portal(s). One and half year ago they talked with Netscape but at that time Netscapes was not interested. He said at that time Netscape had other problems. Also he thinks now bandwidth issues are not as big a roadblock and Applix office can now read MS office files.

I got the definite impression that Applix is making efforts to hook up with a portal. Jit stated that this would probably be best because they have captive audiences. However, he added that if they could not convince a portal to go this direction, that maybe Applix would go it alone. Jit agreed with me in that the future of office applications is through web brower. He thought maybe that Applix was a little ahead of its time in the past in this thinking. He also agreed that Microsoft could not go this direction because it would hurt their current model.
