Amen, brother. The enemy is stronger than any person can resist on their own. But we have a champion - and what a champion he is. He walked on the earth and preached a remarkable message of love and forgiveness, he healed the sick and made the blind see and even raised the dead. He was tempted in every way, but he overcame those temptations and never sinned. Later he was accused of crimes he did not commit and never spoke a word in his own defense. He was unjustly convicted, severely beaten, humiliated, mocked and paraded in public like a common criminal. He carried a heavy cross until he collapsed. Once he got on the hill called Golgotha, he was nailed, yes, nailed, to the cross and hung between two thieves. He was mocked some more, he suffered severely on the cross and eventually died. But he never gave in to the enemy. By all outward appearances this man named Jesus was defeated on the cross. But no it was not so, HE was the victor. For on the third day he arose from the dead and thereby declared victory over sin and death. And we can claim that victory, too. Not on our own, for we are too weak. We can claim that victory through the righteous one whose name is Jesus. Jesus lives today in victorious splendor beside his Father in heaven and he will welcome all of his people into paradise. And how do we claim that victory and share in the reward for righteousness through Jesus? That's the most remarkable part of all. It is so simple: John 3:16 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (KJV) That's it. It's that simple. Accept Jesus as Savior. Thank-you Lord, Jesus, for overcoming the evil one and thereby providing us with a way also to overcome him through YOU! Amen.
