My understanding is that BRCM's proposal for the upstream path
is a frequency-agile QAM scheme which just extends their existing
dual mode QPSK/16-QAM scheme.

As far as the so-called ''ramp-up'' of TERN sales is concerned,
it is accompanied by a ramp-up of their losses, ie., each modem
is sold at a loss. The losses will only escalate when they complete
the development of their dual mode DOCSIS/S-CDMA modem which
I expect to be horrendously expensive.
