Nice to come across someone who knows what they are talking about once and awhile.

Well, I wouldn't quite go that far.

But I do approach the subject of monetary policy from a slightly different angle than I normally see voiced out there by goldbugs and monetarists.

I see the CBs really trying to maintain some form of balance and equilibrium with no drastic, sudden moves that would would create systemic shocks like we saw with LTCM last year.

That may require manipulating gold downward, but it also may involve supporting the gold market at times.

Kinda similar to Steve Martin in "The Man with Two Brains", where he is pulled over by the police and forced through the mother of all sobriety tests.

The Fed basically has to tap-dance, juggle numerous balls, and sing "Sweet Caroline", all at the same time. But to flesh out the analogy, one must imagine 'ol Steve being beaten ala Rodney King by the entire LAPD.

That's my current perspective on CB policy... <VBG>
