Maybe to be happily married one must give up one's selfish ways, but most know that to be married or even to stay married requires little but inertia. It takes initiative to be happy and danger and uncertainty. Most people merely sit still and complain and do not change their ways and seek for happiness. Selfishness is not inertia, but eagerness to discover delight amid the gloom.
