Re "is going to convince me to pay an extra $400." Don't forget the PC manufacturers. They have an incentive to differentiate their machines. After all if all machines were priced like the % difference in CPU speed the entire box market would fall into a $600-$800 range. So they segment the market - sell Celerons/K9s at sub $1k with few goodies - and sell PIIs at $2k+ loaded with goodies. I think this is a masterful way of getting over the minimal real speed differences between CPUs. This is why MBAs earn more than engineers! Just MHO.
