You'll save yourself alot of pain and heartache if you get a CDROM to install. You can get them for next-to-nothing at www.cheapbytes.com.

If you insist on a Net install, then pick a distribution and follow the downloading instructions on their home page...
debian.org
redhat.com
slackware.com

You can get a free copy of Linux at lsl.com or cheapbytes.com for the cost of the media plus shipping (~$5).
It's worth the few dollars for the CD, as is the $20-$30 for a manual, although there's ample documentation on the CD itself.

The fastest and most trouble free way of installing Linux is with the help of an experienced volunteer such as those that take part in Linux 'Installfests'. Most Linux User Groups (LUGs) organize Installfests periodically. Search linux.org or other Linux site for a LUG in your area and then check with them about when and where the next Installfest is scheduled.

The second best bargain of the century. The first? Mr. Bois for $50 per hour. Something tells me he would have taken the job for nothing.

4th reply to this message: Activate the defibrillator on the rear matrix switch of the interface card. Set all slave jumpers to #4 pin set (left most, facing away from powersupply) on all cards. Turn monitor to maximum reflection and sync to 72 herzog. Set motherboard to turbo. Start Windows in safe mode and comment out all parts of upper memory commands in autoexec.bat. Reboot. Turn off monitor. Disable mouse. Start Netscape 2.08 (Latvian edition) and go to download site. (Use keyboard and have memory map for commands.) Go to Public. Then go to Linux. Then Red Hat. Then Linux again. Then select binaries. Go to public. Select free version. Go to latest beta. Do not use odd numbered files. Finally select all. Then ftp. Then name file redhat.ynw. Wait 8 hours and turn on the monitor to see what you've got. Go to bookstore and buy CD of same. Follow instructions and install.
