Gary,

At the risk of adulterating the SNDK thread I wanted to reply to your post. All that I know is what I have read in lay magazines. Your knowledge of the areas discussed dwarfs my superficial understanding. Nonetheless, I think we agree on most points.

Windows CE:

I meant to say it would be nice in the future to operate with full-featured Windows applications similar to those on a standard PC. Don't know how long it will take to get there.

Cellular service:

Europe is converging on a single standard for wireless voice communications. I believe Qualcomm and Ericsson are going head-to-head for the endorsement. There is a greater sense of community in Europe while the U.S. consists of a fragmented collage of radiofrequencies. We have a maze of redundant wireless infrastructure from ATT, Sprint PCS, Airtouch,... Until the U.S. gets its act together the potential for routine wireless internet access and e-mail functions will not happen. In the meantime there may be an interest in hardwired dial-up modem cards (CF socket compatible) and a trial of slow motion web viewing on the miniature, monochrome world the PDA market offers now.

The Symbian Venture:

Will somebody please create an OS that will break the bondage of Microsoft!!! I hope Psion and the bigger telecoms involved come out with a rival OS so that we don't end up in the same place we are now with the dependence on Windows OS for PC's. I couldn't agree more.

Your HP 200LX:

Does just about everything for you except cook dinner.

Have a good weekend!!!
