The CD-R alternative, to my mind, is the real threat to Iomega, albeit in the storage component value chain only. At under $2 a disc for 650 meg, it seems a hands down winner. Not so, tho in the data access, and dynamic storarge functions ie the speed of access and dynamic delete and rewrite (the CD-RW technology not yet ready for prime time, imo).

I am long IOM but do not own the physical product. I did buy a CD-R in Dec of last year, and am pleased with the decision, so far. I also know of many users who have been disillusioned with their zip purchases, both in terms of their inability to operate, and also in terms of it's storage value.

A discussion on the subject might be illuminative in terms of IOM's future prospects.

Good Luck...Ash
