It's so insane it's hard to believe, really.

Do you remember some years back an ace reporter for the Washington Post did a human-interest story on a young child in the projects. It was a heart-wrenching documentary on the lot of the poor inner-city black population. The series won the Pulitzer for its gritty incisive nature. The upshot was all the attention led to the articles being exposed as a fraud. The child was without a real-life counterpart, and the interviews were fabricated.

What am I saying? Just 'cause it's in the front section of a national caliber newspaper doesn't make it so. I'm not suggesting that this sort of libel is the norm, but there is a continuum between the straight story and this sort of piranha reporting. Y'all make the call.

From the article you posted the link to:

<<The practice of barebacking has been fiercely
debated in the gay community for several years. But
nothing is creating quite the stir as the lastest issue of
POZ, a glossy monthly magazine brimming with ads
for AIDS drugs, featuring a sympathetic portrayal of
the barebacking phenomenon. >>

It sounds to me like the mag has been pressured by it's advertisers to popularize something that will bring them more customers. If the aids drug ads are the bread and butter, the mag would probably fold if they pulled their advertising. Possible?
