john: In general I agree with you. Accompora waited rather late before warning of the last correction and even later to give the all clear. I have been in a position where Merrill Lynch regional VPs have called me back-stabbing each other and some of their own brokers in order to poach my business for their own accounts. I do like their fundamental research capabilities, but used to disregard their TA. It is theoretically possible to get a shot at more IPO's if you are a client, but this is over-rated. To get their FA I might re-open an account with a small portion of portfolio. I told ML that Schwab was far superior on access and execution. I heard that ML is now toying with the idea of buying or developing an online service.
