San Francisco--Feb 18--Money managers will have to wait for their chance to
learn more about financial woes at Advanced Micro Devices. The Sunnyvale,
Calif.-based chipmaker told Bridge News today that it has pulled out of next
week's BancBoston Robertson Stephens conference here.

Company spokesman John Greenagel said the company plans to wait until March,
after it has better sized up the quarter's sales, before speaking to investors.
The company pulled out of 2 earlier investment conferences before releasing a
statement that it may post a loss for the current quarter. Beyond that, the
company has been mum.
"I would expect that somewhere down the line there will be some opportunity
to update our outlook (for the current quarter and beyond)," Greenagel said. "I
just don't know where and when."
AMD's scheduled Feb 23 presentation also would have been a chance for the
company to talk up its K-6-III processor, which is set to be introduced the day
before. Greenagel would not say which manufacturers are prepared to announce
models based on the chip, but said the company expects products to be
announced
later next week.
Rival Intel Corp. is set to formally launch its Pentium III chip Feb 26 with
a reported $300 million ad budget. End

AMD either define the expectation or be defined. Why defies the Feb 22 announcement date painted by likes of CNBC, WDJ?
