hugh,

I opened a LEAPS position in MRL on Weds. Bot LMDAU (MRL Jan 00 7 1/2 Calls) for 1 1/4. LEAP options can give you a lot of leverage and a longer time horizen than shorter term options. The risk is the initial amount used to open the position, the leverage is for an increase in the underlying equity. My strategy on this is to set up a possible free trade by selling LMDAB (MRL Jan 00 10 Calls) for the price paid 1 1/4 for entry on the lower strike price on a bounce in the stock. This would lock in the 2 1/2 point difference at no cost. If accomplished and MRL retreats back to original entry point would open up and additional position. Options are a great way to hedge or generate premium income if used correctly. For more information you can check the following sites.
