Yow! What year was it, do you know?

I got my Rover back from the shop, it needed to have some stuff on the differential replaced, as I suspected. The mechanic was talking about "catastrophic failure." I bought it from a dealer in Greensboro, N.C., because I wanted to make sure that I got a warranty - Rovers have bad reputations for reliability. The mechanics at Land Rover Alexandria called Land Rover of North America to get authorization for the work. I don't know, and I don't want to know, what it would have cost without the warranty. I understand that Land Rover of North America is not happy with Land Rover of Greensboro for certifying the car. They also worked on the emission stuff. I was getting 13 mph, don't know what it is doing now but I'll find out later today, as we are driving to Durham.

A buddy at work speaks nostalgically of the old FJ40 Land Cruisers - the Spam cans on wheels. He reminisces that the suspension was as hard as anything he'd ever been in (and this guy knows his sports cars!) - like a skateboard on gravel. Not real good for a date unless you want to kind of shake the fight out of her.
