*OT* Interesting Herb Greenberg item in today's column:

Bad news for Bebe?: Bebe Stores (BEBE:Nasdaq) has been on a tear (so to speak) since the California-based clothing chain went public last year. Comp-store sales surged ahead at a robust and impressive 27% in the last two quarters. But now the company is suggesting it may not be able to keep up that growth. In its 10-Q filed this week, Bebe added the warning: "While the company is experiencing comparable-store sales growth increases to date that are consistent with those experienced in the quarter ended December 31, 1998, the company believes that such increases may be lower in the future."

That definitely trumps MU's 10-Q disclosure.

Oh I agree that he missed the revenue change, and was embarrassed by it. As I said, I would expect that he isn't happy about it, either. And not having read his report, I can't comment on how well he backed up his $200 figure. I'll take your word for it that he didn't back it up at all in the report, but I suspect that he has some backup for it somewhere.

I also agree that with just a few changes in assumptions $20 could happen as well as $200, and furthermore, that it is not impossible to hit both numbers (in either order) in the next few years. <G>

Good luck,

Carl
