You are right on. Here is the excerpt:

Feb. 18 (Bloomberg) -- Intel Corp., the No. 1 semiconductor company, may invest in a maker of computer-networking chips like Level One
Communications Inc. or PMC-Sierra Inc. to expand its networking
business, analysts said.

Intel plans more networking purchases after agreeing to buy
Internet-equipment maker Shiva Corp. for $185 million in October, Chief Executive Craig Barrett said in November. Intel gets less than 10 percent of its $26 billion in annual revenue from networking products.

Level One and PMC-Sierra make chips with built-in communications
features, used by network-equipment makers to save costs by reducing the parts in their gear. Taking a stake would give Intel products for a part of the chip industry that's growing faster than its traditional
microprocessor market. ''Either one might be a good fit'' for Intel,
said Ken Pearlman, an analyst at CIBC Oppenheimer who has ''buy''
ratings on Intel, PMC-Sierra and Level One.

Officials at Intel, PMC-Sierra and Level One declined to comment.
