MEXICO CITY, Feb. 18 (El Universal/Infolatina)-- The president of the Mining Chamber, Mateo Quiroga, announced that the production of silver in Mexico increased 11 percent last year, with a total of roughly three thousand tons of the metal produced, while gold production increase only slightly to 26.5 tons. Quiroga estimated also that 1.7 billion dollars will be invested in mining in Mexico his year, despite the fact that metal prices are still depressed on international markets. Mexico is the largest producer of silver in the world.
