At least you didn't say that I was being optimistic. We're making progress here.

As an aside, my wife informed me that she was told by a Time Warner installer that they will be increasing their channel capacity in the 'hood. I immediately inferred that they're doing the things, finally, that are needed for both the video and the data upgrades. That scares me in a way, since we've not had a Cable TV-related outage in ages.

And that's not the least of it. Think of all the human factors associated with an always-on PC ... PCs themselves aren't ready for always-on primetime. At least MINE aren't! Damn noisy fans, high-freq whines, etc, etc. My phone doesn't whine ...
