<<But the battle for liberals is also against Law&Order, the One Religion movement, the Power of money, priveledge, corporations vs. individuals.... This issue is surely his forte, and to allow him to lose here, more than discounts this area of liberalism.>>

Yeah that was quite a scrap he had when he met with the Pope last month. Say, who won, I wasn't watching? And I really like how he kicks but on major corporations everytime he gives a nation wide speach, but I think I blinked last time, because I missed that too. He is definitely against using the power of money though, right. Probably has to stand behind the podium because he's barefooted. Yep...aghem...and he would never, never, never stand for any one in this country using the priviledge of elitism or high ranking office to their advantage against some common folk, right? Go, tell Juanita B. she'll probably see your point.

It is absurd to believe that your freedom of decision should be grossly encroached upon, as was attempted (for example) in the health- care debacle, and yet your liberty over- all is enhanced. The one's who want to surround you with a thicket of rules are not the conservatives...

I don't view the Federal government as playing a significant role in Education, Law & Order, etc. The vast majority of the funds (over 90-95 percent) are raised and spent by local jurisdications. What civil liberty battles. He signed into law the Welfare Reform bill that gave state's lattitude to improve the programs. Clinton then turns around and signs an Executive Order to attempt to take away their rights. He's also signed Executive Orders for expanding federal wiretaps. As far as the Power of Money and Privilege, I think his beating the rap on perjury, witness tampering, and obstruction of investigations says it louder than any speech he could give about "working for people who work hard and play by the rules" as he is so fond of saying. As far as pitting corporations versus individuals, who's creating the jobs here? Definitely not the government.
