DownSouth: Another perspective..

First off, I agree with almost everything you have said, and you have even taught me a thing or two about NTAP that I was not aware of. Secondly, watching Mr. Tindle on CNBC this morning, I could not help but feel as though the Gods were trying to tell me something!!!

So you your arguments have great merit to them. My question has never been about NTAP's ability to grow within the NAS market segment PROVIDED THAT MARKET SEGMENT maintains its current characteristics. My questions are centered on the NAS market in two to three years when NTAP is faced with the potential challenge of EMC turning their sights on them and the NAS market. That is where my focus is. Today, NTAP is not a "Gorilla" in the sense of of its true definition -- they just don't have the brand recognition AMONGST INVESTORS...

I am not saying that NTAP is not a great investment that could make you and others much $$$. For me, however, to put it in my basket of Gorilla investments, I need just a little more. I will be more than happy to change my mind if the landscape changes.

One has to maintain a constant balance between the fundamental merits of a business and the overall perception that the stock warrants in the investment community.

Thanks,
Teflon

Downsouth, >>>" EMC is in the mainframe
storage systems market.<<<

EMC sells storage in support of all major servers, not just mainframes. They probably started with just MF storage, but I think that's not even 50% for them any more. You better hope they're into more than just mainframe storage if you own the stock, because MFs aren't growing that much right now. From EMC's homepage:

Symmetrix 5000 Enterprise Storage
Systems

EMC Enterprise Storage systems set the standard
for performance, continuous availability, and
connectivity.

The Symmetrix 5000 family of EMC Enterprise
Storage systems provides the industry's highest
performance and scalable capacity with unique
information protection, sharing, and management
capabilities for mainframe, UNIX, Windows NT,
and AS/400 systems.
