I bet the VoIP folks have had plenty of chit-chat about this and I'd love to hear about it. I keep thinking about the $1000 worth of UPS I would have to put on this PC if I was to always-on it safely.

I also would like to sit in a room with a bunch of VoIP fans and calibrate their primary representational systems ... neurologically. I'm grinning as I wonder whether VoIP is a lust peculiar to those whose internal and external reality is shaped and held auditorially.

That's what, 15% of the population ... something like that.

I'd rather type and read than speak and hear.

I've never bothered to buy a mike for NetMeeting even though my partner and I both have high-speed lines to the same router.

The VoIP aspect I think is worthy has to do with the expanded options for things you can DO with voice ... POTS emulation is useless to me.
