The frame of reference is so bizarre... One might find Barr unpleasant, a bit uptight, even over-zealous, but he actually comes off as a reasonable guy in interviews. He is not incoherent or particularly given to extreme rhetoric. Someone who finds Barr a nutcase is somewhat perceptually challenged. Nor is it obvious that anyone was being hypocritical, or had a hidden agenda. I would guess that you did not see through anything, but believed the worst from the start.
