The same could be said for diamonds, Syncrude, but you know what? THe girls I know still think that there is some kind of shortage, so please do not go spoiling things. Now if you want to give me your gold and diamonds and really demonstrate what you are trying to say, I will give you my mailing address. If you really have a lot, as you say it is all over the place, I will make arrangements to have it picked up. Thanks in advance.

Better stick to oil?? Compare the 80% or so of all gold ever mined which still exists to the growing world population - and on a per capital basis what would you find I wonder? Or compare it to the supply of fiat money which can be boosted at the whim of governments. dd

<With respect to jewelry, no it is not the primary store of gold> what is then?Having been in that business I have to disagree on this point.Just look at what percentage of the annual production of gold goes into jewellery. What the CB's have in storage might be less than a quarter of the above ground gold. What I agree with you is that the the price will regulate the supply versus demand more or less sooner than later. It is this North American thinking that there is no value of storage in gold as it is no 'currency' anymore that bugs me.Go to any country that has had political or economic upheavel and see if they would not have kept their values better in gold then in THEIR fiat paper. Why do you think people are buying gold coins now, even in NA because they are afraid of what Y2K might cause.I do not agree with that Y2K scare either, but anyone may try to cover his/her emotion as they see fit.BTW I think gold is out as a daily-fiat currency, but as long as we have women around ( and also men) wo can be flattered with a piece of gold around their necks or fingers, gold will have value!
