Scanner,

Do as I do. Go to the thread header page where you get a listing of all of today's posts. Eliminate the ones posted by the people that never make a worthwhile contribution anyway. Divide the rest of the posts into two groups, one for the longs and one for the not-so-longs. Pick any single post in the longs group and read it. That usually covers everything they had to say anyways. Caveat: If there is a post by Spider available, choose that one, because it will be the only one with any original content. From the not-so-longs' side, read only the part of the post you can see on the long listing. Generally speaking now, read only those that actually look interesting. Generally speaking now, lately that might include posts by Janice, Jeff and Tonto. One last caveat: If you see an http://www.<address>, click on that post no matter who has posted it, because usually (but not always) it's an interesting link.
