No, he doesn't rise to the level of being simple minded. Nor, I agree, is he good natured. But those failings make it especially important to be forgiving. After all, there's no need to forgive people, like you and I, who are inherently good and superior and have nothing to be forgiven for. Forgiveness is only needed for those who are stupid or ill natured or otherwise are deficient as humans. Appropriate indeed that gator picks as his moniker an anachronistic, vicious, stupid, cruel, and totally inhuman beast. Fits him to a T.
