Voltaire, Dell is far from being in the toilet. If you avoid the recurring quarterly lunacy surrounding earnings expectations, and invest for the long haul you would have done very well. My holding period rate of return is almost 300%, and that doesn't count taking advantage of the momentum guys by selling calls every time the greater fool theory breaks out in all of its exuberance.

Maybe the problem is that you look at the company in canine terms -- and believe me I am good at smelling out dogs <VBG>. When I was trying to flash warning signs to people on this thread about the runup you were busy encouraging people to buy more and convincing them that any downturn in price was the result of manipulation. You claimed infallible angelic visions as the reason for your self-assurances, while I could only rely on my calculator and limited analytical abilities.

IMO businesses are best viewed as cash generating machines, and the only way to successfully invest (as opposed to gamble) is by understanding the prospects for the machine's continued functioning.

I am truly sorry that you reject this point of view. But dispassionate analysis continues to tell me that Dell is an excellent investment.

Good luck to you,

CTC
