Attempeting to fix the calculation by using a discount is a dubious enterprise. That's suggesting that all stocks aren't valued at the NAV are either subject to some known discount or multiple that gives them a true value. As everyone knows, this isn't the case. Thus, dbcc is either $8 if that's the perception of those willing to pay that amount to own its shares, or any other number. The valuation accounts for a discount or multiple for any number of reasons, which are often different even with companies in the same sector, with almost always a premium going to the leader in its niche.

I think es's point is that dbcc has the potential, just that its co-chairmen acted irresponsibly from the point of view of maximizing shareholder value and instead have been self-serving. The potential remains, however, subject to their recognition of what needs to be done to turn the potential into valuable assets warranting a significant appreciation of the stock.

Of course, I could be wrong.
