There was a good post recently on the Yahoo ODIS thread where someone said (paraphrased) "I use ObjectStore and I know how great it is, but the reality is that most of the people making decisions about what DBMS to purchase in large enterprises haven't even heard of ObjectStore". I agree with this (both parts).

I would agree with you that ODIS shouldn't try matching ORCL's marketing budget: that would be a quick trip to bankruptcy. But would it hurt to put an article on the web site about TCO? Would it hurt to make ObjectStore available to software developers at lower prices? (No, IMO because the decrease in revenues from software developers would be more than compensated for by increased volume) Would it hurt to open up other channels apart from the very expensive and slow direct selling method?

In my opinion, some of these initiatives would have a positive impact on earnings within 12 months.

Gustave, I would like to know if you are happy for ODIS to continue indefinitely with annual revenue growth between 22% and 32%. If not, when do you think things need to speed up?

Just one more example of where ODIS marketing could be improved for a few lousy dollars. ObjectStore OSAX uses ActiveX and so can in theory be used with doesns of different programming languages. I say "in theory" because there are only examples for one programming language: Visual Basic.

I have a customer who doesn't know how to use PowerBuilder with OSAX. I can't help them. ODIS can't help them. What a farce.

But Oh I forgot! ODIS doesn't need new customers who use PowerBuilder! Revenues are growing fast enought already at 32%!
