How about this--if even five different posters appear on this thread within the next 45 days, I will not only admit I'm wrong, but will donate $100 in your name to the St. Jude Children's Hospital. If you're wrong, will you undertake to denote that same amount in my name?

Ok, I'll start this off. First of all, what will happen to the stock the first day of trading. Where else, up big. But what about the long term prospects? Well, they develop software supporting one niche of the Internet software market - push technology. Back when Marimba first released Castanet, push technology was touted as the the next big thing. Everyone will have content pushed to their PCs. It would be huge. Their initial product development, targeting push to the consumer desktop flopped. Flopped just like Microsoft's Active Channel (how many actual use Active Channel????)

After time out of the limelight, Marimba is now marketing its product to the business market, touting the software delivery capabilities of their product. I can say only one thing about this market: Competing with Microsoft.

Pros: Technology which will take off. Hot as sh*t CEO.
Cons: Eventual competition with Microsoft

They are expected to go out the same week as two other Internet IPOs: Proxicom and iXL. Should be an interesting week.
