On my local news last night, there was a "news hawk" story about a customer who felt like they got ripped off by AOL.

This person installed the AOL CD so that he could get his free on-line time. He claimed he followed the directions to the letter. The problem is that the dial-in phone number that he selected was not a local call, but instead... a zone call. He racked up over $600 in phone charges and is really peaved at AOL.

What really irked me is that they interviewed a representative from Ameritech who basically pointed the finger at AOL.

I don't know about you, but in my area it is very difficult to determine what is local and what is zone. If you dial the # without an area code you can be assured that it is local, but some #'s with area codes are also local. Ameritech makes it very difficult for us.

Oh well... just venting!

I bought netscape at $160 days before the split to $80, and then rode it down all the way to $16 before it was rescued by AOL.
Thank God!!!!

So be careful out there!
This coming week is crucial.
