Jens, the article only stated that Soros increased his "stake" in AMD. Although the word can mean "to back financially" its most common meaning is "a pointed stick". Since the article didn't explicitly state that he bought any shares, Soros may be shorting AMD.

Jens - Re: "According to WSJ Soros Fund has bought more than 1.7 million AMD shares recently."

He bought these in September (average price $17.50) and DECEMBER (average Price $28) of last year.

So, with AMD back at $17 5/8, how much MONEY has poor Soros LOST on AMD since he bought this dog?
