Thean...I've had Netcom for the last 4 years, and they are good. Mindspring just bought them a few months ago. Their advantage over Worldnet is that there is no 150 hr. maximum with Netcom. Check out the following site for a look at how the ISPs really perform: [the site updates every 15 min.]

Thean, just had a cable modem installed and its a winner compared to what I had. Its pretty much a wash with what I had which was a seperate phone line for my computer and a subscription to flashnet as my ISP. I dont do a lot of graphics or downloading huge files, but just in changing web sites say from silicon graphics to Fidelity or Etrade the difference is impressive. The installer downloaded Netscape 4.5 and it took a couple of minutes. It probably would have been an hour on my old setup.

The startup cost is about $150 of which $50 is a network card. The monthly is 44.50, but subtract the phone line and ISP cost and its a net cost of about $5 monthly. So far I would heartily recommend it. Here in Austin we have Time Warner and the "code name" for the cable modem is Roadrunner. They're not marketing it much because Time Warner doesn't have people to support it. Everybody I dealt with was a subcontractor.

I just called the cable company and asked about it and they hooked me up with the people they have running it and went from there.

Thean,
I'm sorry Megsinet didn't work out for you. Those are exactly the same problems I always had with WorldNet. Unfortunately every POP (point of presence) for any given ISP can be very different so who ever is good in Columbus might really suck everywhere else. I did hear of a new national ISP last week that's supposed to be good and only $10. Now if I can just remember the name... I'll post it if/when it comes to me. I switched to RoadRunner and a cable modem. It's WONDERFUL! Worth the bucks just to free up the phone line; and the speed...
Cinnci is a different POP than Columbus but I've NEVER heard anything but complaints about Prodigy. Maybe they're OK in Cinnci.

I went to Doug R's TA seminar in Orlando so I've got all kinds of new TA tricks, now if I can just make some sense out of them. At least I understand the lingo over on the 56 thread a lot better. Some of that stuff isn't so wacky once you know the code.

I'm afraid I don't understand the funnies on CPLY very well, other than generic meds; that's why I asked you about it some time ago. It's basically a TA thing for me but I prefer understanding both. I figure the "only TA" and "only funnies" folks are both wrong. The right answer has to be a combination of both.

I like CLST too, but they've got a lot of exposure to Asia and SA. I think I can be patient and wait 'till it breaks through that downtrend thru the late '97 and mid '98 highs. One more higher high ought to do it, but I can wait.

SPNSF has been putting in a nice series of higher highs and higher lows. Looks oversold on yet another higher low. Tight BBs with positive stoch and MACD crossovers. It would be kind of a sloppy cup but would you say it's about to finish the handle of a cup-with-handle going back to '97? I'll be watching it pretty close next week. Could be a keeper..............TTYL

Thean, you may try to get a cable connection. I have Comcast @Home for almost a year. It is much better then any telephone lines connections I've had. Installation was $150 (they usually have $100-50 special on it) and it is about $40 a month. If you pay for an extra phone line and Internet access you are almost breaking even on expenses compare to cable. Speed and reliability are exceptional.
I hope it helps.

Thean and all:

I've coded a scan for long (and short) candidates based on a MACD (12, 26,9). Here are a couple that look attractive.

Long candidates were pulled from a scan based on MACD with a setup being given by a "fast" line > "signal" line crossover based on 2/19 closing prices. My MACD is based on a SMA as opposed to an exponential MA as I cannot code an EMA in TC2000. My other criteria are average monthly volume > 150,000 and Price > $20. I also look at stochastics, Worden's proprietary accumulation indicator, and breakout from congestion. I try to be conservative so for confirmation I check IBD and Zack's. Here's my shorthand for providing IBD and Zack's info -- [RS, Timeliness, Accumulation/distribution, Zack's rank (1 = strong buy/5 = strong sell)]. I'll provide a link to Timely.com and also to IQsuites for the MACD histogram. So....

Thean,
If you've got room on your radar with all the OSX activity, CPLY's chart just got real interesting again. It might be a good one to watch this AM.
Looks like TDFX is threatening to break out too.
