Let me try again..

John:

I think I was talking about certain mitigating factors that might help stop (or at least slow down) the bleeding of price erosion, not necessarily an increase in ASP.

Some of these are:

1)Introduction of faster chips at reasonable prices.

2)Industry consolidation (hint: NEC/Packard Bell,Toshiba,Acer..bleeding channels...)

3)A slow down in component price erosion from 1% per week to 1% per month as it stands now.

Assuming these set of circumstances coupled with increasing efficiencies by the companies (one in particular comes to mind, you know the one who reduced their inventory from 7 days to 6,the one who has a negative 12 days of cash conversion cycle, the one who just increased their internet sales from $10 million per day to $14 million per day,the one who just improved their DSO by another 3 days, the one who generated $750 mil in cash flow in Q4,well I can go on but you get the idea, don't you?) just might help stabilize the ASP, that was what I was trying to say.
