Mike, We are thinking too much alike. When I read notes from some on the Dell thread, I can imagine Mikey and Merry Death handing out the cups of poisoned Kool Aid and these folks thanking them for the opportunity to drink.

But, in all honesty, most investors have always been dumb, and that includes most pros. And most lose. Hence, the weak of mind often turn to indexing. And, they probably should. Unfortunately, they only turn on to stocks after big moves up, so their timing is atrocious and index brain dead stock selection can only help them so far.

Those of us who do not buy fluffy trading sardines at bubble tops with our credit card balances can't understand how deeply some of these folks can get into losses. It always surprises me when a millionaire, on paper, becomes penniless overnight. But it is the rule, not the exception. Those who keep their money are the exception.
