I agree, if you want to ensure complete control, but I wonder if its really necessary.
From a consummers point of view, dont care who does the processing just do it right. I think they (consummers) will trust or prefer to go to the bank to pay bills like they have always done in the past.
Let the banks do the marketing(costs) to gain/maintain customers, billers will send the bills where their told to by the consummers, and let BCE Emergis stick to the processing.
I use 2 banks to pay my bills and think this is the way to go, I ask myself why take a longer route via a portal to pay the bill. One click of the mouse, 2secs later your on the web site. Another click your on webbroker. Yes I'm sure there will be some who will want to do it from a portal- my estimate small percentage. Maybe its a Canadian way of up bringing or just me, but we tend to buy name brands and 'trust' our banks. hmmm.
