Ron,,,One problem with your view....Gold has not naturally declined due to the lack of inflation....Gold would have found a natural price if the Central Banks had loaned it out at competitive rate.

Well, the reverse could be stated as well. The fact that CBs hold decades worth of gold production under their control effectively give them the ability to control its price under monopolistic conditions.

Maybe the price of gold was artificially appreciated due to this monopoly??

The fire sale will be over when the ones who control the gold decide that it is.

Either everyone else has a life tonight, or they are choosing not to contemplate the repercussions of a CB sale of gold. They could find any number of rationales to justify those sales. And the fact that one CB could transfer gold to another CB that has already begun divesting itself of gold could be accomplished to prevent a blatant sale by the Fed or ECB.

We'll see.
